FAQ
How can I order a Hot Wheels or 1:64 RC conversion into a remote control car?
If the car model you want isn't available in our store, email us at hey@toys.engineering. Include a link to the car you'd like converted. We'll check if the model can be turned into a remote control car and provide pricing and estimated production time. Typically, Hot Wheels RC conversions cost 150–170 EUR, including the car itself. Other 1:64 models may cost up to 200 EUR.
Are the cars shipped fully assembled?
Yes, all cars arrive fully assembled with spare parts included. Simply charge the battery using a USB-C cable, and you're ready to race and drift.
Can I develop custom firmware for cars converted by Toys.Engineering?
Absolutely! We use custom RC boards designed for battery-powered vehicles, featuring Arduino-based firmware. The board includes an ESP32S3 SoC, accelerometer/gyroscope, motor drivers, servo motor and LED outputs, and a sound amplifier. Our guides and GitHub examples will help you get started. You can also order the board separately from our store.
Is the firmware open-source?
Yes, all firmware provided with our cars is fully open-source.
What can I create with layout electronic modules?
Layout electronic modules let you add effects like lighting, sound, and interactive actions such as opening gates, playing sounds when a car passes, or displaying messages on screens.
Can I order a conversion kit and convert a car myself?
Yes! We plan to launch the conversion kit between December and January. It will include a controller board, DC motor, servo motor, screws, rubber-tire wheels, and a chassis, all for an estimated price of 90 EUR.
